The Book of Acts

Chapter 4

Daily Devotional

Read: I Samuel 30: 1-8
The COVID-19, Coronavirus, seems to have come out of nowhere without warning and has placed a strangle hold on the world. Anxiety and fear abound without regard for race, gender, nationality, socioeconomic status or religion. Scientist, medical and health professionals search for a cure, or something that will provide relief as they battle the war of diminishing supplies. The word discouragement has entered into the matrix of our daily lexicon, and we wonder who to turn to in these uncertain times.
Believers in Jesus Christ are subject to the same issues of life as anyone else and sometimes can get discouraged. We know that discouragement can lead to hopelessness and defeat, so we look for someone, or something to encourage us. Unfortunately, sometimes there is no one around to encourage us. Other times people just don’t want to encourage us. King David gives us the answer. He encouraged himself in a time of trial, and in doing so overcame his destruction, depression, decisions and his delegation. He found the answer to his dilemma by finding strength in the Lord, his God.
Today, Lord Jesus, we turn to you our strength as we are confronted with an invisible enemy. An enemy that seeks to discourage and destroy us. But when we think about the goodness of Jesus and all that you have done for us, we are encouraged that we will win the battle.
Shalom
Pastor Smith
