Read: Isaiah 43:16-19
Nick Saban, head coach of the University of Alabama football team, has a saying that is provocative and profound. The saying is, “Trust the Process!” Every student athlete that plays football knows this statement because it describes what the program is all about. It means controlling only what you can do, day to day, playing one down at a time. If you are going to play successfully at the school, you will ingrain this mantra into your mind and do your job (play) accordingly. This is the common denominator in the success of one of the greatest programs in the history of collegiate sports.
The nation of Israel was the best in the world because they had the best in the world on their side, they had God. They couldn’t lose, but they did because they decided to put their trust in other gods and idols. They didn’t trust the process that God had laid out for them. The good news is that God gave them a reprieve through the new thing that He is going to do. Like the Israelites, if we failed to trust God’s process, we will find ourselves in a losing season. But God is about to do a new thing in this eternal now. If we will recognize, seize, and celebrate this new thing we will experience the powerful plan of God, and the restoration of His church.
Dear God, our experience has taught us that when we need protection and deliverance there is no one who can save us but you. Today, we place all of our trust in you and your will as we live into the new thing that you are doing and the new season that is to come.
