A Note From Our Pastor
“Seeing the Whole Picture”
The goal I pursue is the prize of God’s upward call in Christ Jesus.
-Philippians 3:14 (CEB)

Ralph Waldo Emerson, a 19th Century American poet, once wrote: “Life is a journey, not a destination.” In other words, life becomes a lot easier when you look at the whole picture and realize that all of our experiences, both good and bad, tie together to give meaning and purpose to our lives. When we see life as a journey, we won’t allow our mistakes, struggles, and circumstances to get the best of us and negatively influence our future.

Most Christians will testify that there are often many obstacles, hurdles, curves, and sometimes potholes between where we are and where God is calling us to be in life. However, if we allow God to use our entire experience for His glory, we will experience the joy that comes from living an abundant life. The Bible is filled with people who experienced the challenges and the complexities of life, but yet, God continued to work in them and through them to accomplish His purpose and plan. I am reminded of the Apostle Paul who once wrote, “I do this one thing: I forget about the things behind me and reach out for the things ahead of me. The goal that I pursue is the prize of God’s upward call in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13b-14, CEB).

As we each think of our lives, let us make a commitment to see the whole picture. Let us continue to ask God to use our stories, our experiences, our lives to bring about transformation in the world around us. I believe that we are being called like never before to encourage others by sharing our life’s story. Telling the world that through the power of His son, Jesus Christ, God has taken every moment of our lives to work things out for our good.
