Read: Matthew 25: 14-30
What do we do with what we have been given? How do we find purpose in the parables of life? Will we be held accountable for the things that we have been given? How do we say thank you to God for all that He has given us? We are all waiting for something to happen from the ministry we are involved in, and yet, we realize that we have total control over our activities as we prepare for our reward–the return of our master. We have been blessed with gifts and the ability to use them. However, there are some who decide not to exercise their gifts and will have to answer for their disobedience.
This parable is more than a lesson on the tactics of stewardship. It is a life lesson on our gratefulness to God by using the gifts that we have been given. To fully use our gifts, we must eliminate the problem of our unfruitful thinking, elevate our minds to a higher level, and we must execute God’s plan by understanding the purpose of our gifts. What we discover is that what God gives us is to be used in the present and not hidden or stored away. God gives us more only when we show Him our willingness to use what we have been given.
Lord, today I give you thanks for the faith that you have placed in me through the giving of my gifts. I will honor you by using them to the best of my ability believing that you will reward my faithfulness and obedience.
