A Note From Pastor Cowser

“What Does a Disciple Look Like?”I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.–John 13:34-35 (CEB)

When we think of what a devout Christian or follower of Christ should look and act like, we often have images of one of the saints or someone who has been extremely dedicated to the faith. In John Chapter 13, during his final meal with the disciples before his death and resurrection, Jesus instructs them on how to live in the world. Jesus reminds them to love each other as he has loved them. Even today, we are challenged to continue the work of Jesus by loving God and loving one another. As we prepare to return to our church building, I pray that we will renew our commitment to follow Jesus by seeking ways to grow in our love for one another.
Last Sunday, I shared with the congregation at our Outdoor Service a list of characteristics based on the word DISCIPLE that I am striving for in my own personal life. As you read my list, I hope you will develop a list of your own to reflect on in this season.
D – Dedicated: dedicated to Kingdom building in season and out of season I – Involved: utilizing my God-given gifts and abilities in every opportunity that arises S – Spirit-led: allowing the Spirit to give me direction, discernment, and clarity in life C – Christ-centered: making sure every decision I make is centered in Christ I – Invite others to Christ: seeking ways to share my faith and testimony with others P – Pray for others: interceding on behalf of those I know and those in my community L – Love at all times: filtering all my speech and actions through the love of Christ E – Encourage others: speaking goodness and blessings into the lives of others
Striving each day, Pastor Cowser
