What’s Happening at CG?

Daily Devotional

Read: Mark 2: 3-12
In his book, Paralysis in the Pew, author Dr. Jeffery T. Rainey asks questions relating to the problem of paralysis in the church today. “Why are members comfortable with just coming to church? Why are members satisfied with simply sitting in the pew? Why are members meeting simply to maintain their membership? Why aren’t some Christians contributing to the church? Why aren’t some saints serving in His service? Why aren’t some members ministering for the master? Why are some congregants committed to the cause of Christ?”
Paralysis is the inability of the body to function properly or respond to the commands of the brain. In relating to the story of how Jesus healed the paralyzed man, we understand how faith and perseverance from his friends led to deliverance for their friend and praise to God. To see change in the church today we must be desperate to see Jesus, determined to press through difficulties, and dependent only on Jesus to heal, forgive and deliver us, as we respond obediently to His voice.
Heavenly Father, today we give thanks for deliverance from the spiritual paralysis in our lives. We come to you asking forgiveness of our sins, receiving the healing of our body, mind, and spirits. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
Shalom
