A Note From Pastor Cowser
Our Vision for the Future“We’re Back, Now What?”
Like many of you, I have been longing for the day when we could safely gather for in-person worship services. Virtual Church has been great and we will continue to build our online worship services and digital ministry, but I have prayed for the day that we could once again experience the “call and response” of worship and preaching that we know so well in the Black Church Tradition. Simply put, it’s somewhat challenging to hear an “Amen” from a video camera.
Not only have I prayed for our transition back to in-person worship services, but I have also prayed for God’s vision for our church. In my prayer time, God seems to always remind me to keep it simple and focus on the basics of ministry. I believe that every church that opens its doors in the name of Jesus Christ should focus on three main things: (1) Honoring Christ – by being faithful in worship and giving; (2) Knowing Christ – by studying God’s Word and practicing spiritual disciplines that enables spiritual growth and development; and (3) Sharing Christ – by seeking ways to invite others into a relationship with Christ and serving in the church and community.
Over the next several months, we will focus our energy on developing a renewed ministry around these three areas. In essence, our goal is that every member of Center Grove would commit themselves to Honor Christ, Know Christ and Share Christ, so that we might continue to live into our vision to be “an irresistible light on the hill winning souls for Jesus Christ.” I believe that as we keep it simple and get back to the basics, not only will we grow as followers of Jesus Christ, but we will make an even greater Kingdom Difference in the City of Huntsville.
Blessed to be here! Pastor Cowser
