What’s Happening at CG?

Daily Devotional

Read: Judges 16:4-6;18-21
People don’t like to talk about their weaknesses, we steer away from weaknesses and focus on our strengths. But, acknowledging your weakness is the first step towards true strength. The true test of a person is not how well you do in the good times, but how you handle things in the testing arena. The familiar story of Samson, whose supernatural strength led him to tremendous victories and feats of dominance, also caused him to forget about the source of his amazing power. Thinking he was insulated from weakness, he was exposed by Delilah whose betrayal caused him to not only forget about his weakness, but also to forget about the source of his strength.
The true source of Samson’s strength was the Spirit of the living God. Whenever he used his supernatural strength the Bible says, “The Spirit of the Lord’s power” would come upon him. Ultimately, Samson’s lack of focus on God caused him to be seized by his enemies who blinded and imprisoned him. When Samson finally realizes the true source of his strength it is too late. However, he has one last request, he prays to God to strengthen him just once more (v.28). That one more time answer from God enables Samson to overcome his weakness and defeat the enemy.
Heavenly Father, thank you for being the source of my strength. Today, I acknowledge my weaknesses and the need for your Spirit to strengthen me in these challenging times. Thank you for giving me your supernatural strength and power, just once more.
Shalom
Pastor Smith
