Read: Proverbs 3: 5-6
The story is told of a man who liked to go mountain climbing. Once, while on a climb, he ventured too close to the edge, slipped over the top and was free falling to his demise. With one last effort he reached out and caught a small branch and stopped his decline. The branch wasn’t strong enough to hold him, so he called out for help. He heard a voice that identified himself as God that told the man to let go of the branch and he would be saved. The man thought for a second and replied to the voice, “is there anybody else up there.”
Trust can be a difficult attribute to exercise, especially when your life is on the line. You either have it, or you don’t. The writer of Proverbs gives us an assurance of guidance that if we put our trust in God, He will direct our paths and show us the way that we should go. Our trust in God begins with our willingness to acknowledge Him, placing our life and all of our being into His hands. This is the most reasonable and wisest thing that we can do.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your power, strength, wisdom, and love. Today, I put my trust in you because of who you are, and for the things that you have already done.
Shalom
Pastor Smith
