What’s Happening at CG?

Daily Devotional

Read: Judges 2:11; 3:7; 3:12; 4:1; 6:1; 10:6; 13:1
We won’t come out like we went in. Life will be different for us in our post COVID-19 coronavirus world. Having gone through so much, we wonder if we will go back to life the way it was. Returning to our quarreling, fighting and tribalism. The imagery we discover is that rather than swinging like a pendulum, we will have to make a turn. A turn that will reflect our ability to adapt to our “new normal” lives with the flexibility to incorporate our newly found technological experiences.
The Israelite’s were caught in a vicious cycle of, rebellion, retribution, repentance, and restoration. As soon as God would restore them, they would do evil in the eyes of the Lord. They would return to rebellion and the cycle continued. What will we do when the virus is passed, and the crisis averted? What lessons will we learn? What changes will we make? Prayerfully, we will learn from our spiritual ancestors and turn away from the cycle of sin and rebellion and seek guidance from our heavenly Father who loves us and cares for us.
Lord, there is a lot of pressure to return to the way things used to be, but we seek your face today to show us where we need to be. May we learn our lessons of disobedience and idolatry and turn to you, our first love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Shalom
Pastor Smith
