The Book of Acts

Chapter 7

Daily Devotional

Read: Colossians 1:10-14
Isn’t it great to know that in this life with all of its challenges, that there is always somebody praying for us? We know that prayer changes things, and it changes people too. I can hear the saints at church singing, “somebody prayed for me, had me on their minds, took the time to pray for me. I’m so glad they prayed, I’m so glad they prayed, I’m so glad they prayed for me.” We realize that we are so blessed to live the way we live because, somebody; mother, father, sister, brother, big mamma, papa, somebody, was not too busy to carry our names before the altar of God.
The Apostle Paul writes this affirming letter to the church at Colossae, because they were dealing with trials trying to discern what and who to believe. They were infiltrated with false teachers and their patience was wearing thin. So, Paul takes the time to pray for them. He prays that they would understand God’s will, gain spiritual wisdom, please and honor God, bear good fruit, grow in the knowledge of God, be strengthened, be patient, joyful and always give thanks. He gave them what our ancestors and parents gave us, a blessed assurance in the presence and preeminence of God’s Word and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Heavenly Father, help me to remember that I am never too busy to pray for others. May I always be mindful that it was the prayers of others that enabled me to make it over. This is my prayer.
Shalom
Pastor Smith
