What’s Happening at CG?

Daily Devotional

Read: Isaiah 55:9
A young boy asked his father why their family had to go to church every Sunday. The father explained what the Bible says in Hebrews 10:25. He told him that worship is our offering to God for His goodness toward us. He told him about the fellowship of the people to encourage one another in the faith. To all of these things the little boy’s response was, why? We have laptop computers, cell phones, and tablets. I’ve got email, texting, messenger, and everything you can think of in this information rich world. Yet, there is still so much more that I don’t understand. And just like the little boy who doesn’t understand why he can’t have pizza and ice cream for every meal, or why he has to take a bath, we question God about the things that don’t make sense to us.
God is the creator of all things in heaven and earth, the ancient of days, the beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega. God says that His ways and thoughts are bigger and higher than ours. And because it is so we are asked to follow and trust the God who is more than everything to and for us. If this COVID 19 coronavirus has taught us anything, it has taught us to trust God. Yes, many ask God why did the virus come, why does God allow us to become sick, and why doesn’t God destroy the virus, or at least send the cure? The road ahead is unfamiliar, uncertain and unknown, but we will put our trust in God and where He leads, we will follow. The answer that eventually satisfied the little boy’s inquiry was, “that’s what we do.”
Spirit of the living God, help us to trust in your omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence as we navigate the “why’s” in our life. Today, we place our hands into your hands with the blessed assurance that we trust and follow you because, you are God!
Shalom
