What’s Happening at CG?

Daily Devotional

“Don’t be alarmed…you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.” (Mark 16:6)
When I was young my parents allowed me to watch Frankenstein versus the Wolf man. After the movie I yelled out to my dad to come into the room as I was convinced that the monster had decided to leave the television and take up residence in my closet preparing for his favorite meal, little black boys. My dad came into the room armed with supernatural wolf man conquering power, opened the closet and pronounced the room off limits and clear of any monsters.
Fear may fill our world, but it doesn’t have to fill our hearts. It will always knock at the door. Just don’t invite it in for dinner. I can imagine the trepidation, the fear, of Mary Magdalene when she saw the stone removed and the tomb empty. But God sent an angel with a message to her and to us today; don’t be afraid, the one you are looking for is risen. He has conquered the monsters of death, hades and the grave and has all power in His hands, just like He said He would. We celebrate faith over fear because Christ’ resurrection gives us the assurance that we will be victorious in this life and the life to come.
Heavenly Father, come into the rooms of our hearts, speak to our fears and pronounce for us once again the victory of the resurrection.
Shalom
Pastor Smith

CG Family and Friends: In an effort to aid in the containment of the Coronavirus, Center Grove has taken the following precautions:

  • All regularly scheduled church meetings and activities are postponed until further notice. This includes Noon and Evening Bible Studies, Choir Rehearsals, and Ministry Meetings. We are also working to have our Wednesday Bible Studies on the web.
  • The Church Office will be closed. We will be monitoring the phones and emails. So, don’t hesitate to call or contact the church, or Pastor if needed.
  • During this time Online Giving is encouraged. You may give via the church website (www.centergroveumc.org), or the UMCgo App (available on Android and IOS). For those who want to give by check, please mail your offering to: Center Grove UMC, P.O. Box 5957, Huntsville, AL 35814.
  • We are working to provide a weekly Sunday morning message through the church website.
  • What’s Happening (e-newsletter) will be sent out daily to keep you informed and updated. Information and updates will also be posted on the Church Facebook Page.

We will do our best to keep things as normal as possible. We expect this postponement to last approximately two weeks. However, this is a fluid event that might take longer. Thank you to everyone who’s working so faithfully during these trying times.

The church of Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. Stay healthy! Keep Praying! God is in control!
