A Note From Pastor Cowser

Center Grove Family and Friends:
I loved to vote when I was a child. At least I thought I was voting. One of my fondest memories of my grandmother was going to the polls with her to watch her vote. On Election Day, she would pull-out her sample ballot, mark her candidate choices, and we were off to town to cast our vote dressed in our Sunday best. We lived in a small town, so the sign-in process at the voting polls was the social event of the season. As a matter of fact, we spent more time talking to poll workers than we did actually voting. The best part of the experience for me was when we went into the voting booth. My grandmother would close the curtain behind us and she would allow me to pull the levers on the machine. Each pull of the lever was an opportunity for her to share with me the reason she chose a particular candidate and the core beliefs of the political party she proudly supported.
I learned the importance of voting at an early age, so when I turned 18 years old, it continued to be an important part of my life. On every Election Day, I make it my business to still get dressed-up and head to the polls to vote. I share this story to not only stress the importance of voting, but to remind us of our duty to also teach others, especially younger people, the importance of exercising the right to vote. All elections are important, but I believe the 2020 General Election is a life or death situation. The very heart of our nation is at stake and the results of this election will impact all of us. I hope you will join me at the polls this November 3rd to cast your vote. I will go in the assurance of knowing that the spirit of my grandmother, and so many others who have gone before us, will meet us there.
Go vote!
