A Note From Pastor Cowser

“Saved People Serve People”
“Whoever wants to be great among you will be your servant. Whoever wants to be first among you will be the slave of all, for the Human One didn’t come to be served but rather to serve and to give his life to liberate many people.” -Mark 10:45 (Common English Bible)

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to serve the needs of others. Most often, we want to place parameters on our service to others, somehow determining if they are worthy of our attempts at being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. However, in the Kingdom of God, serving others has no limits. We serve not because someone earns or even deserves to be served, but we serve because we are all God’s children, called to demonstrate his compassion in the world.

Serving the needs of others above our own is counter-cultural. The world in which we live promotes fear, selfishness, and a survival-of-the-fittest type of mentality; however, we are called to live differently than the world, because of what Jesus Christ has done for us and in us. When our lives were broken, hopeless, and stained with the guilt of sin, Jesus, Servant of the Most-High God, came just when we needed him most and made the ultimate sacrifice.

Our world desperately needs to experience the love of God through Jesus Christ and I am grateful to serve a congregation that is eager to think creatively as we find our way into our new normal. I pray that as we strive to be an irresistible light on a hill, we remember The One who came to serve and not to be served, but then, I pray that our remembrance continues to move us to action. As our lives are being transformed, God will use us to transform the world around us.

Grateful to serve as your pastor,
Pastor Cowser
