Rev. Donald Smith
Rev. Donald F. Smith is the senior pastor and chief visionary for Center Grove Church. He was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia and matriculated at Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work. Pastor Smith went on to receive a Master of Divinity Degree with emphasis in Christian Ethics and Biblical Studies from Candler School of Theology at, Emory University in Atlanta Georgia. Pastor Smith has held numerous leadership offices and served in many capacities and chaired committees within the annual conference of The United Methodist Church.
Since coming to Center Grove in June of 2009, the church has experienced growth numerically and spiritually. Center Grove is a planned growth faith community. The membership of the church are ministered to extensively through spiritual growth classes, workshops, seminars and transformed through enhanced biblical and theological ministries. The church has increased its community relationships by expanding the volunteer ministry, collaborations with community groups and the position and church identity in greater Huntsville. Pastor Smith is an active member of, The Greater Huntsville Interdenominational Ministerial Fellowship.
Under Pastor Smith’s leadership Center Grove is currently expanding its ministry through the, Stepping Out On Faith Capital Campaign. This financial campaign has enabled the church to recently break ground on a new 21,000 square foot ministry facility that will increase worship, office and classroom space. Pastor Smith brings over 23 years of pastoral experience in leadership development, teaching and administration to his current title and position. He and his wife Towana reside in Harvest Alabama.
Mrs. Towana Smith
Mrs. Towana Riggins Smith is a native of Sylacauga, Alabama, born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Riggins, Sr. Her parents instilled in her strong family values and as a result she accepted Christ at a young age.
Mrs. Smith is a lifelong educator and holds an Education Specialist Degree in Administration with over 18 years of service and experience in the field of education. She is passionate about educating children in a holistic manner; which, begins at home. Mrs. Smith delights in seeing children grow spiritually and she gives support to the Acolyte Ministry at Center Grove United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Smith loves reading, shopping, and spending time with her family. She is very proud of her blended family. She adores her grandchildren and has a great love for people.
Her life scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
