 Psalm 126:3The Lord has done great things for us, and we rejoiced. I think it goes without saying that we have much to be thankful for this year. This time last year, in-person gatherings were strongly discouraged. The pandemic was raging, and we still had no idea when vaccines would be available. Worship services were conducted online, and there was a bit of fear in the air as we stared down the winter season. We could only pray for the day when we could all be together again, and hope that the time came sooner rather than later. Thanks be to God that this year is different. Sunday’s Harvest celebration felt like a big homecoming. As I looked out onto the congregation on Sunday, I couldn’t help but think of the lyrics to the hymn “Sweet, Sweet Spirit:” There’s a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place, And I know that it’s the Spirit of the Lord; There are sweet expressions on each face, And I know they feel the presence of the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord was present among us as we celebrated, worshipped, remembered, and gave thanks. After the challenges that we’ve faced over the past eighteen or so months how can we not give thanks for being able to share such a special time together? Despite our continued challenges with the pandemic and the ups and downs of daily life, Sunday served to remind us of God’s faithfulness. This week, we celebrate Thanksgiving. For many families, Thanksgiving will be a much more festive experience than it was this time last year. For everyone celebrating on Thursday, it is my prayer that you find joy as you break bread with your loved ones. We have sown our tears, let us begin to reap joy (Psalm 126:5). |

A Note From Our Pastor
 “Come, Celebrate Harvest!”Dear Center Grove Family & Friends: Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We have a reason to celebrate at Center Grove! Although the times have been challenging in our world, we have continued to be blessed. Because we have strong and dedicated church members and ministry partners, we have continued to be an irresistible light in our community and beyond by the new and renewed ways we offer worship services, Bible studies, and mission opportunities. I have heard countless testimonies from many of you of how your faith in God, and hope for the future, have grown stronger, especially in this season. As we make our way through this time, I believe God is calling us to remain faithful in proclaiming His goodness and demonstrating His love in the world. Our communities are yearning for hope and direction and the church must stand like never before as a beacon of light and love. For this reason, we celebrate our 78th Annual Harvest with the theme of “In Due Season” based on Galatians 6:9 in which the Apostle Paul writes, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (NKJV). We must encourage one another to keep on doing what we’ve been doing to remain faithful in our devotion to God and serve the needs of others. As we celebrate our Harvest this Sunday, remember that Center Grove has a vibrant history, an exciting present, and a promising future. Although times have changed, the Gospel mandate to reach people for Jesus Christ remains the same. As we continue to journey together as pastor and congregation, let us pray, focus, and diligently work to transform lives by being an irresistible light in the community winning souls for Jesus Christ. A Note From Our Pastor
| Dear Center Grove Family: “The Blessing Business” Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. -James 1:17 (ESV) This year, although challenging because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, has been a great year in the life of our congregation. We have navigated through new territory by learning to be a hybrid church, both in-person and online; we have reached the community through food giveaways and collected supplies for our partner schools. We are currently in the process of providing toys for children at Christmas and supporting local community agencies. Because of the grace of God and the faithful financial giving of our congregation, we have not only sustained our current ministries, but we are joyful about the future of the church. I am sure that you would agree that God is in the blessing business! As a matter of fact, as children of God, we are recipients of so many blessings that we cannot begin to count them all. However, I pray that you and your family will join me in counting the many blessings that God has bestowed upon us. Simply thank God for what our eyes have seen and our ears have heard. I firmly believe that once we have counted our blessings, we have a responsibility to join God, our Heavenly Father, in the blessing business. A Note From Our Pastor
| Dear Center Grove Family: I pray this note finds you well. The Season of Advent is one of my favorite times in the life of the church. This year, Advent begins Sunday, November 28th, and ends Thursday, December 23rd. Traditionally, Christians use the four Sundays and weeks of Advent to prepare and remember the real meaning of Christmas, which is the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our 2021 Advent sermon series will be “What the World Needs Now…” and each Sunday we will explore one of the traditional themes of Advent: hope, peace, joy, and love. During this season, I invite you and your family to participate in these ways: 1. Attend in-person or online worship services each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. I would love to worship with you and your family in-person in our sanctuary. We continue to follow our safety protocols on Sundays by checking temperatures upon entry, wearing face masks, and social distancing by 6 feet. If you are uncomfortable attending in-person or if other circumstances prevent you from attending in-person, I truly understand and ask that you continue to participate in our worship services online. 2. Create an Advent Wreath at home to reflect on the meaning of the season each week. You may download the instructions on how to create an at-home Advent Wreath from our website or pick up an Advent Kit from the church on Sundays after service or contact the church office. Once you have created your Advent wreath, take a picture of it, and post it on Facebook using #CGAdvent2021. The Pastoral Staff will determine who has the best Advent Wreath. The winner will be announced on Facebook and will receive a gift card. The deadline to post your picture on Facebook will be Sunday, December 19th. 3. Participate in our Annual Angel Tree project to purchase toys for children in need at one of our partner schools. For more information on how to participate, contact the church office. 4. Continue to support our church through your tithes and offerings. Your financial gifts help us to not only sustain the operations of the church, but we are able to fund missions and outreach projects during the holiday season and beyond. In closing, I pray a special blessing over you and your family this holiday season. May God continue to bless you in mind, body, soul, and spirit. Above all, may you experience anew the joy that comes from knowing that God has sent his one and only son, Jesus Christ, into the world so that we may have an abundant life.
